The long overnight journey from Millbrae to Giove in Umbria, via Heathrow and Rome
This is a self-catering two-bedroom apartment on a farm in Giove. Erika and Charles rented it for us and stocked it with delicious food for our breakfasts and snacks.

You can walk all the way around the walls of this tiny neighboring town, and we did.
In the neighboring province of Lazio and very close to Giove is Bomarzo, another pretty old town with an amazing 17th century theme park. Really.
Another lovely small medieval town in Lazio, this place is known for it's stellar gelateria and its Easter Island style Moai statue.
We took the train into Rome and went to the Capitoline museum, lunch in the ghetto and San Clemente church with underground Mithraeum. It was a long hot day but fun.
